Shon Hopkin taught seminary for twelve years at Timpview and Provo High before moving to Austin, TX to teach institute and coordinate the seminary program there. He has been a session director at EFY for the past 20 years and loves to teach at EFY and at Education Week. While in Austin Shon earned a PhD in Hebrew Studies from the University of Texas. He was hired by BYU eight years ago to teach in the Ancient Scripture department. At BYU he is part of the Book of Mormon Academy and the chair of BYUs Office of Religious Outreach, and so is heavily involved in Book of Mormon research and in interfaith dialogue. He and his wife, Jennifer, live in Orem, UT right across from Orem High. Together Shon and Jennifer just finished a year-long stay in Jerusalem while teaching at the BYU Jerusalem Center and Shon frequently leads to tours to the Holy Land. They are the proud parents of four children and one grandchild.
