What:
This 4 day 3 night trip in the wilderness has it all! Backpacking in the beautiful Ashdown Gorge, waterfalls, arches, canyoneering in slot canyons, and hiking and swimming in Zion National Park. Not to mention nights filled with stargazing, s’mores, firesides and testimony meetings. This trip is designed to help 15-19 year olds gain a love for God and his creations while doing hard things.
Agenda:
Meet the group and counselors at the entrance of Cedar Breaks National Monument at 10:00am. To begin the trip we will spend the first two hours getting to know each other, going over the safety procedures, and setting goals. We will then head to the trailhead. At the trailhead we will get geared up, put the sunscreen on and start our descent down cedar breaks. We will arrive at camp tired and ready to eat! After dinner there will be plenty of time for games, campfire stories, a fireside and journals. When you climb in your sleeping bag to end the day don’t forget to look up at some of the brightest stars you will ever see!
Day 2
Your alarm clock on day 2 will be the sun warming up your face. After you wake up and eat breakfast you will get to hear great devotionals from your counselors. Following devotionals you will find a secluded spot in the wilderness for scripture study, pondering, and prayer. We will then spend the day backpacking through Ashdown Gorge, exploring side canyons, playing in waterfalls, looking for God through his creations and enjoying each other’s company. Each night the campsite will get prettier and more amazing. On our final night under the stars we will have a fireside and testimony meeting.
Day 3/4
After scripture study and devotional we will head to a slot canyon for our day of rappelling and caving. This will be a day you will never forget. It will be filled with rappelling, hiking and enjoying each other’s company. As you learn to trust the equipment we will be using we will look for similarities on how we can learn to trust God. After the adventures we will have a night filled with testimonies, s’mores, sitting and talking around the fire, and pondering about our journey through this life. The last day we will wake up before the sun and head to Zion National park for a sunrise hike and scripture study. After a beautiful morning of hiking we will head to a swimming hole and spend our time jumping off rocks into the water and eating lunch. Parents will pick up their youth at 4pm at Dairy Queen in Hurricane Utah.

Zion's Backpacking
Teenagers have a lot of “mountains to climb” in their future. Missions, college, work, relationships, questions etc.. There will be times where they want to quit. It will be hard. We have intentionally designed this backpacking trip to be hard. Our hope is that as they carry their backpacks through Coyote Gulch they will begin to see and understand that they can do hard things without giving up! (Philippians 4:13)
Every tour will have a professional and trained director to keep the youth safe and also to lead the youth skillfully through the scriptures and the life lessons that are an important part of the Wilderness Experience.
